Hi all, we’re actually working on a bit of a face lift at the moment.

Hooray for Waqu!

Sunday, 10th September 2006 by drew

Have been a bit of a home body of late. The weather is Sydney is certainly disgusting but after much pleading to leave the home for some nice food, we finally settled on Waqu .

Waqu is in Crows Nest. A small and not very noticeable front door on Falcon Street not far from Woolworths supermarkets. A special degustation menu was on that night for $39.00 for five courses so we thought we’d give it a go and try some of the food.

Firstly, the starter was a mixed “tapas” plate of soft shell crab taco, ox tongue and a salad. Next, a small course of sashimi followed by fried oysters, angus pepper beef and a white sesame brulee!

I thought value for money and service was tops!

Can’t wait to go back for my dinner next week.

A friend of mine just launched a new site http://www.fotodojo.org/  It looks pretty cool…

I like the idea that he can recoup some of the cost of what can be an expensive hobby (photography).

Care factor

Monday, 17th July 2006 by Gadgetgirl

A question I have been pondering lately is how much do I actually care about things? The answer to that would probably be it depends on what the subject happens to be. It seems strange, but it is a question that frequently appears in conversation around my acquaintance. The basic high-level categories are

• Work
• Family and Friends (Generally leading to relationships)
• Hobbies and Interests (including environmental considerations).

It is certainly interesting to see where each person I have come across puts his or her weightings. When is caring too much or when should you just not care?

I am resolved to think that if I care less about some things and more about others, the equilibrium will resolve itself.

Happy to open the floor to those who ‘care’ to comment.

Spooky, freaky….

I have a twin - well not exactly a twin, but we were both born on the same day, same month and same year and are Hong Kong Chinese. I didn’t think we were that much alike until recently….

Every year we send each other birthday wishes, (it’s not hard to forget when you share the same birthday!), and in her last correspondence to me she mentioned that she will be tieing the knot later on the year.

Recently I got engaged, and was telling her of my news, informing her I’ll be tieing the knot later on the year also. In which she replied ‘When in December?’ The way she worded the question was a bit queer but I gave my reply informing her of my wedding date. At the back of my mind I was thinking surely she’s not thinking of the same day.

In the next email from her, I couldn’t believe my eyes. She’ll be getting married on the same day!! Admittedly there are only a selected few good dates to be married based on the Chinese lunar calendar (about one a month). But of all the dates in the year, we’ll both be getting married on the same day. We were both are bit freaked out about it.

We continue to exchange notes about wedding dresses and styles, and would you believe she’s been looking at dresses from the same designers as me, and she’s over in UK and I’m in Sydney Australia!

What would be even freakier would be if we both become mothers at the same time, where our kids are also ‘twins’.
