Having had plenty of free time on my hands – due to the completion of a degree, I spend a bit of it contemplating deep philosophical questions such as whether there is any food that cannot be improved with the addition of chocolate. Chocolate is used in meat (there is a Portuguese dish mix chocolate with chicken), with fruits (especially with strawberries), and of course, by itself. Having written this, I will now return to my contemplation of the subject. After all, it is only through study of the subject that leads to better understanding.

Having just finished watching ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, there is a statement which demonstrates stereotype of women in position of power. The statement, spoken by Anne Hathaway, was that if Miranda (the devilish boss in question) was a man, her management style would not be commented. While this statement could be construed as the rarity of women in position of power, this statement also has implication for management style. There is no reason why men should be excused for mistreating their staff, anymore than women. It would be a sad reflection of the 21st century, if we are still expecting that all women should be nurturers and men to be aggressive in the workplace. If a woman is assertive, this may be interpreted as aggressive and conversely, if a man is considerate, this could be taken as weak. Instead, everyone should be aiming for a harmonious and productive workplace where it is ok to be assertive while still considerate of other people.

A few days ago, I was happily preparing for my change in jobs. As it was getting closer to D-day, I started experiencing a sharp and unbearable pain. Thinking the pain would eventually go away, I ignored it.

Today, the pain was quite severe and it was reaching the unbearable stage. I went to the dentist to be subsequently told that my wisdom tooth was the cause of the issue. Now, every person who has ever had a wisdom tooth incident managed to tell me that it was unbearable. I DISAGREE and here my experience:-

Having had it removed, there was no pain – no side effects that every one else described. I’ve been told by a few doctors that my ability to recover quickly from these events is remarkable. I was happily back and work and relieved that the tooth was finally removed.

I had one of those weird moments at work today. I was tired. I thought: what am I doing here?

On a whim, I typed “tired” into google.
