Discrimination on Small Feet People

How I hate buying shoes, especially work shoes. Thankfully I only need to buy it every couple of years, and I’ve reached that time again to look for work shoes. I don’t think I ask for that much in a pair of shoes, I just want a pair of closed, classic style, black, low heeled pair of shoes that would go with a skirt or pants. I want a pair of shoes that I can comfortably walk to and from the train station, and do a quick dash to the train if required, that doesn’t slip off my feet or cause me to twist my ankle. Now is that asking too much?

What I see on the market these days are either flat black shoes – great for walking, but looks a little odd in a business suit, or high stilettos – looks great in a business suit and those that have narrow feet, but not that great if you need to walk to places.

I think the problem lies here; I’m an average Asian about 160cm, and wear size 5.5 or size 6 shoes depending on the make. When I find the pair of shoes that meet the above requirements, I ask to try a size 5.5 and a size 6. Now usually the size 6 is brought out for me to try, and I am hoping that it would fit me. But no, it’s half a size too big, so I ask them if they have half a size smaller or it’s just the make. Either they don’t know or the smallest they make is a 6. Usually it’s the latter.

Now is it just me that has these problems, or are they other small feet women out that have similar problems?

Go to Witchery.. they have some great shoes there! Practical, stylish… you might find what you’ve been looking for!

Alternatively, there’s a lady at work who has size 5 feet. She tells me she shops online, apparently there’s an American shoe company that makes shoes specifically for small feet people, otherwise she shops in the children’s section :)

I wear a size 5 shoe, and years ago, there may have been
1 or 2 pairs in a shipment, and I would buy them.

Now the retails stores and department stores start at size 6 or above. the shoes are running a size bigger than they used to also.

Forget trying to find an outfit and a pair of shoes the same day.

Now I have a bad back and have a lower heel requirement as well as a size five foot. I love stylish dress shoes, but can no longer find ones with a 2″ heel in my size.

yeah, totally forget buying a complete outfit without the shoes …

My friend has small feet, she’s a size 2to 3. She buys her adult shoes at a store in Orange County, CA called “Cinderella.” I just thought I would let you ladies know :)
