TomKat’s pregnancy

Thursday, 6th October 2005

Not sure if anyone has caught up with the gossip lately but it appears that Katie Holmes is pregnant. Correct me if my memory is faulty but isn’t Katie the girl who stated her intention to remain a virgin until marriage? Perhaps the church needs to follow up on this apparent miracle. ; )

As a fan of Mr Cruise (he is just going through a mid-life crisis), I can understand Katie’s temptation. The only question I have with her pregnancy is why can’t Tom respect her decision to wait under the wedding?

Lindt Chocolate Appreciation

Wednesday, 5th October 2005

For chocoholics in Sydney, rejoice! During the Good Food Month, Lindt is having several nights of chocolate appreciation where you can learn about the types of chocolate and, mostly importantly, enjoy the chocolate tastings. For more details, visit http://gfm.smh.com.au/event_view.asp?intid=453. While at $60, the cost may be a bit steep – but I say any price is worth it for delectable chocolates.

PS - If you are going, please do not rub it in about how good the event is for those of us who do not live in Sydney and cannot make it.

PPS - I am already feeling rather green.

Wallace and Gromit

Tuesday, 4th October 2005

A long time fan of these guys, I really enjoyed Wallace and Gromit. In this adventure, Wallace and Gromit run a vegetable protection security firm called anti-pesto. After successfully and humanly capturing rabbits that have found their way into prized vegie patches, their plans are sabotaged by a were wabbit.

Will their business survive the were wabbit? Will Wallace’s love of cheese be enough to save the world? To find out, you’ll have to watch the movie!

An all in all crappy day

Monday, 3rd October 2005

I usually catch the monorail to work. There are surprisingly quite a few non-tourists who do this. But today is Sunday. Actually yesterday was Sunday and I went to work at 7.15AM before my monorail station was open. Today, Monday… ~15hrs later, the monorail station was closed on the way home too. When the monorail station is closed on the way to work and also on the way home, I know I have been working too long.

So I walked home at 1AM. There are lots of people out, because it’s a holiday today (Monday). And it’s warm. And the Tigers won.

Also, there are lots of moths about. Thousands that I counted (one by one).. probably about a squillion more that I didn’t. I chased two of the little bastards around my apartment for 10 minutes. But now they are in hiding and will no doubt end up in my vaccuum cleaner one day soon.

I put my bed linen in the washing machine this morning… and now its still wet. If I don’t dry it, it will end up all musty and smelly. I’m too tired to get out the spares.. so I am going to sleep on the floor.

And the world seems difficult today. And I am sad.

Maybe it will be better after some sleep. Though I have to get up in 5hrs to go to work.

Almost French

Sunday, 2nd October 2005

A long weekend has given me the opportunity to finish reading a few books have been building up on my bedroom floor. The weather has been fantastic and I like nothing better than sitting on the balcony, reading a book with a glass of wine nearby.

Almost French was definitely a good read. A light and funny book that doesn’t require a lot of thinking and contemplation. The book’s author is an Australian, who after a chance meeting in Romania met the love of her life - a Frenchman named Frederic. It outlines her journey to adjusting and settling in France, learning their customs and some times silly miscommunications due to the different cultures.

France to her was originally the wonderful romantic city but it turned out to be a city which initially was unwelcoming and cold. After seven years of living in France, she has finally found a happy medium and made France her home. Having contemplated living in another country lately, this book has made me realise that you never fully get to know a place until you live and breathe in it. Perceptions are some times very deceiving.
